Jamshedpur, March 11: The district administration has been adopting a no- nonsense attitude over the past month on all Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets to ensure proper, qualitative and timely distribution of ration items to card holders. Led by the district’s Deputy Commissioner, Vijaya Jadhav, the entire PDS network has been held on a tight leash to eliminate the slightest chances of bungling. The DC has instructed preferred in-charges, BDOs and Cos all Blocks to conduct checks (on an average) of five PDS shops per day and to collect feedbacks from beneficiaries of these outlets. SDM Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Director DRDA Saurabh Sinha, Director NEP Jyotsna Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaideep Tigga, District Supply Officer Rajeev Ranjan, Special Divisional Officer Deepu Kumar, DCLR Ravindra Gagrai, District Transport Officer Dinesh Ranjan from among the preferred in-charges of blocks along with Deputy Election Officer Kanu Ram Nag, all BDOs, COs and Executive Magistrates have been conducting surprise checks of PDS shops. The inspection included checking and comparing of online stock and actual stock in PDS shops, taking information about the quantity and quality of ration received by card holders, painting PDS shops pink, displaying list of beneficiaries outside the shops, information boards on stock of fortified rice, maintenance of public complaint register, distribution of free ration display, connectivity of weighing machine to the ePosh machine, progress in removing names of deceased and transferred beneficiaries from the list of ration card holders, Aadhaar seeding of all beneficiaries among other foolproof measures have been on the list of priorities for streamlining foolproof PDS supply to beneficiaries.
