Jamshedpur: Patient’s death sparks ruckus at MGM Hospital

Jamshedpur, April 25: Ruckus was witnessed in the emergency ward of MGM Hospital on Monday when a patient died during treatment. The kin of the deceased gathered in the emergency ward and blamed the doctors and staff for the patient’s death. In the ensuing tumult, a ward boy, Vikas Rajak, sustained shoulder injury as an oxygen cylinder fell on him. Another staff, a woman, sustained leg injury in the incident.

The hospital staff tried to make the agitators see reason, but to no avail. Aftre an hour, the agitating relatives went away with the patient’s body.

As per information, Monu Sharma alias Roshan, 25, resident of Sharma Line, Dimna Road, Mango, was admitted to the hospital around 9 am today. The doctors at the MGMCH advised his kin to take him to Tata Main Hospital for better treatment. But the kin did not take Monu to TMH. Later, Monu died during treatment.

According to Dr Arun Kumar, MGMCH superintendent, no written complaint has been received by the hospital administration in connection with today’s incident.
