Jamshedpur parents urged not to pressure exam-going students: Muskan

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Feb 5: As board examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), CBSE and ICSE have commenced, city-based stress-relief organisation Muskan has appealed to parents and guardians to refrain from putting undue pressure on students.
The organisation cautioned that excessive expectations and constant pressure often push students into severe mental stress, which can adversely affect their examination performance.
In extreme cases, poor results and continuous comparison may force students towards negative and harmful choices, leaving families with lifelong regret.
Muskan informed that students experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, panic, or repeated thirst before exams need not panic.
Free and confidential counselling support is available round the clock through Muskan’s 24-hour helpline: 8092867918.
Counsellor Bijendra Kumar emphasised that every child performs according to their own capacity, and excessive pressure can even damage their existing abilities.
He advised parents to involve children in discussions about their interests and career choices rather than forcing them to focus on a particular field.
Constant comparison should be avoided, and instead, parents should engage in open, supportive conversations with their children.
Muskan reiterated that a calm, understanding and encouraging environment at home plays a crucial role in ensuring students’ mental well-being and academic success during examinations.
