Jamshedpur: A one-day online training session was organized under the chairmanship of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal to discuss the upgradation of the CRS portal regarding birth and death registration. The training included registrars, branch in-charges, and IT personnel from relevant government and private medical institutions, as well as registrars of urban bodies, sub-registrars, and other concerned officers and personnel from various blocks.
The training program focused on the Revised Act 2023 and the CRS Revamped Portal. Key points discussed included the mandatory requirement of a birth certificate for children born after 1st October 2023, which will be essential for obtaining other documents like Aadhar card, PAN card, voter list, driving license, and government job applications. Additionally, health officers of medical institutions must now provide medical certification of the cause of death.
The CRS Revamped Portal allows citizens to send birth and death certificate requests online to the relevant registrar from the location of the event via mobile OTP. After verification, the registrar can issue the certificate, which will be sent to the informant’s email ID.
Trainers emphasized that the upgraded CRS portal will simplify obtaining birth and death certificates. Online records must be registered on the CRS portal within 21 days of birth or death, after which the application will reach the registrar for review and the certificate will be issued online. This process eliminates the need for physical visits to offices for certificate issuance and reduces the risk of fraud in birth and death certificates.
The training highlighted that certificates can be issued without a fee if applied for within 21 days of birth or death. For applications made after 21 days, a fee structure applies: Rs 2 for applications made between 22 to 30 days, Rs 5 for 31 days to one year, and Rs 10 for certificates older than one year. The late fee receipt number must be entered on the portal for processing applications made after the initial 21 days.
