Jamshedpur, June 29: City-based NGO Bal Mazdoor Mukti Seva Sansthan has demanded a probe into the alleged sale of shops in the various Sairat markets of the city.
The outfit’s chief convenor Sadan Kumar Thakur has sent a letter to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand and the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum seeking action against people and agencies involved in the sale and registration of shops situated in the Sairat markets.
“Many shops in the Sairat markets have been sold and their names have also been changed. Not only this, the shops have also been registered by the Sub Registrar’s office. All this has been done with the tacit support of private institutions and people having no authority,” said Thakur in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Thakur said the Sairat shops cannot be sold and they can only be returned to the state government. But many shop owners have sold their shops in several lakhs and dealt a blow to the state exchequer, he said.
