Health Minister convenes meeting, asks nursing homes to increase beds

Banna gives Rs 10 lakh from MLA fund for fight against COVID-19

Jamshedpur, April 14: In the wake of the spike in corona positive cases, Health Minister Banna Gupta convened a meeting to discuss its prevention and treatment at the local Circuit House. A future action plan was discussed for prevention and treatment of coronavirus. The Minister gave necessary guidelines on various subjects including better arrangement of increasing testing capacity, increasing number of beds. The Minister said that the government is making every effort to protect people from corona infection and that the infected should get better medical facilities.

“We have asked the nursing homes to add more beds. Action will be taken against those not adhering to orders. We have also asked authorities to start Medica Hospital, which has been closed. The hospital can be used as an 80 bedded facility,” said Gupta, while talking to the media. He informed that a 30 bedded facility has also been added at UCIL hospital.

Gupta said that in view of Covid-19, the State Government is continuously expanding medical facilities. There is an effort to improve food, sanitation and health facilities for the patients.

In the meeting, Banna Gupta gave instructions to increase the corona testing being done at the present time. He told that more and more tests will be conducted and reach more infections among patients and will be able to treat them.

Health Minister has asked the health department to increase the RT-PCR, RAT and True Nat testing for Covid-19 in East Singhbhum as Jamshedpur and Ranchi has most of the active Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand.


The Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum that if any hospital does not treat patients, then they must act on such hospital and cancel its license and register an FIR. He told that the hospitals should not just think of the profits, they would not let them escape from responsibility.


Gupta said that the Government is keeping an eye on the spread of the virus and proactive measures are being taken to control the situation.

On the other hand, Jharkhand Health Minister cum Jamshedpur West MLA Banna Gupta has given Rs 10 lakh from his MLA Local Area Development fund as a contribution in the fight against coronavirus.
