Jamshedpur: NCPCR seeks reply on Mother Teresa Welfare Trust minor girl abuse incident


Jamshedpur, June 10: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) acting on the complaint lodged by RTI activist Darsh Choudhary has asked the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner to submit report on the alleged sexual exploitation of minor girls at Telco-based Mother Teresa Welfare Trust (MTWT) within a week. 

The letter written by NCPCR member Yashwant Jain has asked the deputy commissioner to submit report on 16 points including action taken against the accused in Mother Teresa Welfare Trust. 
The letters seeks to know what actions have been taken based on the complaint of child welfare committee chairperson, has the trust been examined in the past, what is the condition of the victimised minor girls, has their statement been taken under Section 164 in Court, what is the place of residence of the victims and what is the basis on which they were staying at the trust, were the victims forced to do labour and if the victim girls have been transferred to a safer locations. 
Significantly, the two minor girls has accused the convenor of the trust Harpal Singh Thapar of sexually exploitation. However, wife of the accused, Pushpa Rani Tirkey who is also the chairperson of the child welfare committee had refuted the allegations. Even the other girls residing in the trust staged a demonstration and claimed that the accusations were wrong. 
However after the episode both Harpal Singh Thapar and Pushpa Rani Tirkey have gone absconding since Monday.
