Jamshedpur: National Medical Commission team visits MGMCH, reviews amenities

Jamshedpur, April 26: A one-member team of National Medical Commission (NMC) visited Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital here on Tuesday.

Sources said Dr Hemant Karkare of Lokmanya Gangadhar Tilak Medical College and Hospital, Mumbai, has come to MGMCH to review amenities and various parameters in view of the permission sought by the MGMCH authorities to add three seats for Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in the government medical college.

Dr Karkare, who is a Professor of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in Mumbai, visited various wards of MGMCH including the emergency and gynaecology departments. He also inspected the medicine centre and the blood bank in the hospital premises. He spoke to the on-duty doctors and sought details about the various issues affecting smooth functioning of the various departments. He discussed about the shortage of medicines and also inspected the Covid care centre. The Principal of MGMCH Dr KN Singh and deputy superintendent of MGMCH Nakul Prasad Choudhary were present during the inspection.

Asked whether he was satisfied with the amenities in the hospital, Dr Kurkure said he would submit his report to the NMC.
