Jamshedpur, July 27: Naamyaa Smile Foundation organized a massive procession that included men and women on more than 2,000 two-wheelers making their way along all major city routes in salutation to war heroes during celebration of Kargil Vijay Divas on Wednesday, July 26.
The participants held aloft national flags, shouted patriotic slogans, sang nationalistic songs and presented tableaus representing the indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers and the inspiring lives of freedom fighters including Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. The huge procession aroused the spirit of patriotism that was evident as onlookers enthusiastically joined the participants of the vast procession by echoing their slogans of ‘Vande Mataram,’ ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind.’ The procession in honour of the Kargil Victory and the valiant defence personnel on Kargil Vijay Divas was led by founder and Chairman of Naamyaa Smile Foundation and former MLA, Kunal Shadangi.
The procession commenced from Gandhi Maidan in Mango and moved along major city routes including the Mango Bridge, MGMC Hospital, Shitla Mandir, Sakchi roundabout, Tata Steel UISL roundabout, Bistupur, Jugsalai, Station. Lal Baba Foundry, Tinplate Chowk and then Golmuri roundabout where tributes were paid to martyred soldiers.
Speaking on the occasion, Naamyaa Smile Foundation Chairman Kunal Shadangi expressed reverence and gratitude to soldiers who continued to serve the nation with unwavering dedication and devotion. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the courage and sacrifices of the martyred war heroes.
The procession was greeted with flower showers at various points along the route. Several social organizations had set up help and refreshment booths.
The Foundation honored ex-servicemen by presenting them Angavastram. The family members of martyred soldiers were also felicitated with tokens of love and respect. The martyred soldiers’ family members who were honoured included Jagmaya Devi, Dinesh Hansda, P Padmaja, Shivani Soren and others, were also felicitated with tokens of remembrance. The procession commenced with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue and in course of the march, floral tributes were offered at all statues of the martyred soldiers en route.
