Jamshedpur, April 21: The Govindpur-based trader, Jitendra Singh, was allegedly killed by his three friends following a dispute over payment of dues, sources said.

According to Harendra Singh, brother of the deceased, “My brother used to work for a local contractor Mantu Singh. After working for three months, he demanded his wages from Mantu. But the latter kept delaying payment. On Wednesday, Puneet and Mantu took my brother to Sagar Bar in Sakchi and beat him up to death. One more person was involved in the killing.”

Harendra said the accused persons had assaulted Jitendra while drinking at a table inside the bar. Jitendra had fallen on the floor and sustained critical injuries which proved fatal. The accused persons took him to Tinplate Hospital, Golmuri, and from there took him to Mercy Hospital, Baridih, and later dumped him at a private nursing home in Govindpur, sources said.

According to Dharmendra Agrawal, officer in-charge of Govindpur PS, “We have registered an FIR in this connection. The cause of death would become clear once we get the autopsy report.”
