Jamshedpur, September 11: Brajesh Singh alias Munna Singh, a resident of Kadma Bhatia Basti and the director of Mangal Akhara, was arrested by Kadma police on Tuesday night. The arrest followed an FIR registered on September 8 based on a statement of a tribal woman, who along with her child was brutally beaten up by Singh on September 7.

The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the assault went viral on social media, sparking public outrage. Both BJP and JMM leaders called for immediate action, with a demonstration led by JMM Yuva Morcha leader Baban Rai at Kadma police station. Following this, the police filed charges under the SC-ST Atrocities Act.

Munna Singh, who had been a member of the AJSU party, was expelled from the party after the FIR was lodged. He had previously made headlines during the 2019 elections following the breakdown of the AJSU-BJP alliance, when he arrived to file his nomination in a BMW car.

The case of assault on the tribal woman and her child has also reached the Chief Minister’s attention, with MLA Mangal Kalindi visiting the victim to offer support. Kalindi criticized the AJSU party as anti-tribal and expressed his intent to acquaint the Chief Minister with the incident.
