Jamshedpur, Jan 25: Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato today held a meeting with South Eastern Railway general manager, S. K Mohanty at railway headquarter in Garden Reach Kolkata and raised issues concerning railway in his parliamentary constituency.
The MP requested for resumption of services of Tata-Alleppey Train and asked if the same train can start service from Dhanbad then it should also touch Jamshedpur. But the senior railway official said that a decision has been taken by the railway board to end link facility and hence the same train cannot be started and assured that a new train services linking Jamshedpur to Chennai has been proposed before railway board and is hopeful of getting a nod soon.
The railway GM that within a fortnight a new train linking Jamshedpur with Alleppey would start operation and would initially run twice a week and the details route would be chalked out soon.
The MP also wanted a stay on the construction of Food Corporation of India warehouse at Wireless ground and BNR ground in Bagbera as the ground are quite important for residents of that area and requested that the FCI godown should be shifted elsewhere.
He also demanded a train service between Tatanagar and Buxer in Bihar which has been pending with railway for six years. However, the railway official said that the decision has to be taken by the East Central Railway and assured to take up the issue with the counterparts.
The MP also raised the issue of resumption of train services especially local and passenger train for the benefit of daily wagers which were stopped due to Covid-19 regulations .
Amongst other demands include train services between Jamshedpur and Jainagar in Karnataka, increase frequency of Tata Yeshwantpur train, new railway halt between Dhalbhumgarh and Kokpara at Badkola, resumption of work on Chakulia-Budhamara railway line, halting of Utkal Express at Rakha Station, halt of Shalimar Gorakhpur train and Sambhleswari Express at Ghatshila and an underbridge instead of overbridge at Gobindpur in Jamshedpur.
The railway GM has assured to look into all the demands.
