Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato receives Sansad Maharatna Award

Jamshedpur, Feb 17: On Saturday, Jamshedpur Member of Parliament (MP) Bidyut Baran Mahato was bestowed with the Sansad Maharatna Award in New Delhi. The award ceremony, held at Maharashtra Sadan, included the presentation of the corset, citation, and insignia to MP Mahato. The award was conferred in recognition of his outstanding work in the 17th Lok Sabha over five consecutive years.

Expressing his joy after receiving the award, MP Mahato stated that he has endeavored to fulfill the trust placed in him by the public. He emphasized his role as the voice of the people of the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, raising and addressing various issues on the parliamentary platform. MP Mahato dedicated the award to the constituents of Jamshedpur Lok Sabha, considering it a reflection of their love and affection.

The Sansad Maharatna Award is an annual recognition presented by the Sansad Ratna Award Committee, established by the Prime Point Foundation for the past 14 years. The award acknowledges outstanding parliamentarians for their significant contributions and active participation in parliamentary work. The committee, chaired by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and co-chaired by former Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurthy, selected MPs based on evaluations of their work from various sources.

Besides MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, other awardees included NK Premachandran (RSP) from Kerala, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary (Congress) from West Bengal, and Dr Hina Gavit (BJP) from Maharashtra. Notable dignitaries honored at the event were National Backward Classes Commission Chairman Hansraj Ahir, Telangana Governor Dr Chameli Sai Sundar Rajan, Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra, and retired Supreme Court Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul.
