Admin holds meeting on Covid preparation 

Jamshedpur, December 24: East Singhbhum district administration held meeting with health officials in line with state government directive for compliance of Union government advisory for being alert to contain possible surge of Covid new variant cases.

The Government of India has issued an order to all the state governments to be on alert regarding the possible fourth wave of Covid after cases witnessed surge globally.

The meeting discussed on challenges before the district administration and effective preparation to deal with it.

The meeting was attended by representatives of MGM Hospital, Tata Main Hospital, Tata Motors, UCIL Hospital Jadugora and Tinplate hospital along with senior administrative officials, district civil surgeon Dr Sahir Pal.

All the hospital managers present in the meeting were instructed to review the available medical equipment for Covid related treatment and provide the report to the Civil Surgeon Office by December 25. The availability of Covid dedicated beds was reviewed in all the hospitals.

It was assessed that all hospitals in the district, currently a total of 250 ICU beds and 1000 oxygen-rich beds are ready for the treatment of Covid patients and all assured that it will be further expanded if required. Instructions were given for mock drill of all the PSA plants (oxygen plants) installed in the district on December 27.

ADM Law and Order N. K Lal said that there is no need to panic about the fourth wave, but all the hospital managers on their part will keep the preparations in order. He cautioned all the health workers that during the treatment they will necessarily follow the Covid protocol so that there is no loss of life in any way.

The civil surgeon appealed to all the health workers who have not yet taken booster dose to take booster dose. He informed that vaccines are being given at Keenan Stadium, MGM Hospital Sakchi, Sadar Hospital, Tata Motor’s Occupational Health Center in urban areas and all CHCs in rural areas. He said that Omicron’s sub-variant BF7 has been found in the new wave of infection in China, but there is not a single such suspected patient in our state or district. He said that not even a single person in the district is Covid infected, the district is corona free, but there is need to be careful and if someone comes from outside and shows any symptoms, then that person has to be examined and treated.
