Jamshedpur, July 4: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has stepped in to address the growing concern over the recent directive issued by the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan regarding discontinuation of Intermediate (Class 11 and 12) education in degree colleges. The directive, aimed at aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP), has sparked uncertainty and anxiety among students already registered with the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) for Class 12 examinations.

With the exam form submission process scheduled to begin in December, students fear their academic year might be jeopardized. In response, MLA Roy convened an urgent meeting at his Bistupur office, attended by principals of constituent colleges and teachers associated with Intermediate education.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution: the state government must appeal to the Raj Bhavan for a partial amendment in its directive. The current order directs universities to cease Intermediate classes immediately, which could disrupt the academic journey of students already enrolled.

Participants proposed that the directive be modified to exempt current Class 12 students, allowing them to complete their studies in the colleges where they are already admitted. Provisions were also suggested for students who failed in Class 11 to ensure they are not left out.

During the meeting, Roy contacted key officials including Higher Education Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Raj Bhavan Principal Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, School Education Secretary Umashankar Singh, and Higher Education Secretary Rahul Purwar. All agreed that the government should formally request the Raj Bhavan to amend its directive so that the existing Class 12 students remain unaffected.

Although contact with the School Education Minister could not be established, the meeting ended on an optimistic note, hoping the new formula will resolve the issue in Favor of students.

The meeting was attended by several academic leaders including Dr. Amar Singh (Jamshedpur Co-operative College), Dr. S.P. Mahalik (Jamshedpur Workers College), Dr. V.K. Piyush (A.B.M. College), Dr. Veena Priyadarshini (Jamshedpur Graduate College), and others.
