Jamshedpur, September 13: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take action against State Health Minister Banna Gupta, Director of Health Services, and other members involved in the appointment of Rahul Kumar as Registrar-cum-Secretary of the Jharkhand Pharmacy Council. Roy alleged deliberate irregularities and extensive money laundering in the appointment process. MLA Saryu Roy has called for action against Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Minister Banna Gupta for appointing Rahul Kumar as Registrar-cum-Secretary of the Jharkhand Pharmacy Council. Roy claimed that Gupta’s decision bypassed established procedures, appointing an allegedly ineligible candidate.
According to Roy, Gupta issued the appointment order before a four-member committee evaluated Kumar’s qualifications. The committee, which included the Director Chief Health Services, Director (Medicine), Medical Council Representative, and State Analyst, later confirmed Kumar’s eligibility. However, Roy contended that the committee’s report was flawed and accused its members of fraudulently validating Kumar’s credentials under Banna Gupta’s pressure.
Roy highlighted discrepancies in Kumar’s Bachelor of Pharmacy certificate, noting differences in roll numbers and project titles between the certificate and university records. He has urged an immediate FIR against Kumar and demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged fake degree.
The MLA also criticized the inquiry committee for failing to verify Kumar’s documents with YBN University and alleged that the committee’s report was a cover-up to conceal the purported fraud.
Saryu Roy highlighted that Rahul Kumar’s appointment appeared to be linked to financial misconduct, noting that his brother-in-law previously held the Registrar-cum-Secretary’s position and he failed to conduct a single audit of the Pharmacy Council’s accounts. He has demanded an immediate audit to uncover potential large-scale financial corruption and the Health Minister’s involvement in it.
