Jamshedpur, May 4: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy will be organizing a one day sit-in before the Jamshedpur Collectorate on 14th May in support of his various demands regarding civic amenities in his constituency.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, Roy said, “I had written to the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand on 24th April last and apprised him of the inconveniences being faced by the people of Jamshedpur due to lack of civic amenities and the hurdles in making these amenities available to the people. I have demanded that a high level meeting be convened to provide a solution to the public issues at the earliest.”
Roy further said, “I had approached the Jharkhand government and Tata Steel management and demanded that various amenities such as clean drinking water, electricity, cleanliness, parks etc be provided in Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency. I had held a meeting in February 2020 with the then Jusco authorities soon after becoming the MLA of Jamshedpur East and also visited the constituency. The company authorities had assured me of taking concrete steps to provide a solution to the public issues. But two years have passed and sadly no action has been taken. This is unfortunate.”
Roy said he visited Bhuiyandih Gwala Basti and Brahman Tola this morning and found out that just two days of rains had made the situation worse in these localities and made it difficult for the residents to come out of their houses.
Roy said he wanted to get his demands known to the state government through the Deputy Commissioner during the sit-in. He gave an ultimatum of 10 days to the government to take a decision on the local civic issues. If the government fails to take remedial steps, the sit-in will be organized as planned on 14th May, he said.
