Jamshedpur, Feb 29: On Thursday, during zero hour in the Assembly, Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy highlighted the escalating air pollution crisis in Jharkhand. He pointed to a troubling nexus between officials of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB), particularly the member secretary, and certain polluting industries. Roy emphasized the need for investigating the calibration of Online Continuous Emission/Effluent Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) in industrial premises and addressing the issue of defunct online/offline PM-10 analyzers. Additionally, he called for scrutiny into the selection process for Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS), alleging collusion among council officials. Roy demanded swift government action to address these concerns and curb air pollution in the state.

Roy called for government investigation into OCEMS calibration, action against malfunctioning PM-10 analyzers, and scrutiny of CAAQMS site selection.
