Jamshedpur: MLA Purnima Sahu today questioned the state government’s commitment towards reservation for OBCs. She blamed the government for dilly-dallying on the issues that concern the underprivileged sections of the state.
Sahu questioned the state government on when the survey, which began in 2019 for OBC reservation, will be completed. Findings of the survey will form the basis for the OBC reservation. In reply to her query, the state has stated that, owing to the pandemic, the survey has not been completed.
Sahu blamed the Jharkhand government for making excuses and alleged that the government is not serious about the implementation of OBC reservation in the state. She added that it has been four years since the pandemic, yet the state government is unable to give any reason for the delay. “This puts a question mark on the commitment and working style of the state government, especially on the issues concerning the underprivileged sections of the society,” she said.
The Jamshedpur East MLA criticised the state government for soft-pedalling the issue and pointed out that the Tamil Nadu government has completed the socio-economic survey and has already introduced a 69 per cent reservation. She advised the Hemant Soren government to follow the example of the Tamil Nadu government.
