Jamshedpur: Newly elected MLA of Jamshedpur East constituency, Purnima Sahu, held a meeting with senior officials of Tata Steel UISL (formerly Jusco) on Monday in the Babudih Basti area of Bhuiyandih. The discussion focused on expediting the completion of the Lal Bhatta Water Supply Project. This initiative is part of Sahu’s commitment to prioritizing her election promises, particularly addressing the region’s water supply issues.
The MLA had earlier, on November 28, met Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel UISL, to request acceleration of various water supply projects, including the Moharda Water Supply Scheme and plans for Bagunhatu and Babu Dih areas.
Addressing the gathering, Sahu expressed her determination to ensure the swift completion of the project, directing the officials to finish the work within 90 days. She emphasized that no delays or negligence in providing clean water to households would be tolerated.

Sahu remarked, “This project was inaugurated in 2018 and should have been completed by now. Although delayed, further postponement will not be accepted. Pipeline installation must begin immediately, and water supply to every home must be guaranteed.” She thanked Tata Steel UISL for their cooperation and congratulated the residents on the project’s progress.
The UISL officials assured that the pipeline installation would commence within two days. The primary aim of the project is to provide clean water to every household in the area.
Currently, water supply in the Babudih Lal Bhatta area is being managed through tankers. However, these services were recently halted by JNAC. MLA Sahu instructed that tanker-based water supply should resume until the pipeline system becomes operational.
The meeting saw significant participation from local residents and officials, including Dhanraj Gupta, Bhola Sahu, Raju Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Amarinder Kumar, Shuru Kalindi, Prakash Sudhir, Mohan Sahu, Pinky, Sangeeta, and Vinay Gupta, alongside senior representatives from Tata Steel UISL.
