Traffic on Burmamines ROB goes haywire for several hours

Jamshedpur, Jan 18: An out of control mini truck knocked several vehicles near Tatanagar railway station and injured six persons, two of whom sustained serious injuries, sources said.

The road over bridge (ROB) at Burmamines was blocked for several hours as a result of the mishaps caused by the mini truck. A large number of vehicles were stuck in the jam. An ambulance and several school vehicles were also caught in the jam.

Sources said the two seriously injured victims were taken to Tata Main Hospital while four others were taken to Sadar Hospital, Khasmahal. The vehicle was coming from Burmamines to Jugsalai when it went out of control of its driver. It hit two bikes and also knocked down daily shoppers. Police reached the scene and seized the vehicle. A case has been registered against the errant driver.

Local residents and commuters blamed the vegetable vendors for the mishap and road jam. They demanded that the vendors be removed from the road to pave the road clear for traffic.

Due to the jam on ROB, traffic on the main road from Tata Pigments to Jugsalai railway level crossing was also blocked for several hours. Traffic on Tata-Hata Road was also affected consequently.
