Jamshedpur: MGM hostel vacating plan delayed

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, August 5: The process of vacating the MGM Medical College Hospital hostel has been stalled following the retirement of Principal Dr. K.N. Singh on July 31. Sub-Divisional Officer of Dhalbhum, Parul Singh, has stated that concrete actions regarding the hostel situation can only be taken after a new principal is appointed. Currently, MGM Superintendent Ravindra Kumar is serving as the acting principal.

The delay is significant as the college hostel has faced issues with ragging twice this year. The Anti-Ragging Committee had recommended expelling the old, ineligible students residing in the hostels. However, some interns continue to occupy the student hostel, while junior doctors are residing in the intern hostel on Jail Road in Sakchi. The committee had previously set a one-week deadline for these students to arrange alternative accommodations, failing which the hostel would be forcibly vacated.
