Jamshedpur MGM Hospital superintendent suspended, ADM to take charge

Jamshedpur, July 25: MGM Hospital superintendent Dr Arun Kumar was suspended with immediate effect here on Monday. Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Law and Order, NK Lal, has been given charge as the Administrator of the government hospital in his place.

Sources said the state Health Minister Banna Gupta had issued Dr Arun’s suspension order at a high-level meeting of the health department held at Nepal House in Ranchi.

Presiding over the meeting, Gupta ordered the transfer posting of third and fourth grade employees who were serving at the hospital for the past several years. He further ordered release of funds for the disbursement of pending salaries of junior doctors and other urgent work at the earliest.

The meeting was also attended by Arun Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department, Alok Trivedi, Joint Secretary, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and other health department officials.

Sources said the Health Minister had directed the Additional Chief Secretary to purchase medical equipments worth Rs 11.78 crore through corporation and also purchase furniture worth Rs 2.29 crore. He sought a report on the present condition of outsourced services and dilapidated buildings at the MGMCH from the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner. Discussions were also held on starting a Cath Lab and Oncology department at MGMCH on Public Private Partnership mode.
