Jamshedpur, Mar 11: Medical shops are being run in Jharkhand with certificate from Bihar, this was alleged by Jharkhand State Pharmacy Council president Dharmendra Singh and has complained about this issue with state health minister Banna Gupta and East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar.
The president of the council has claimed that thousands of such shops are functional in Jharkhand without any action by the government.
As per data furnished by the council president, there are nearly 16,200 medical shops functional in the state while the council has registration of only 5,700 pharmacists. Meanwhile, All India Pharmacists Association has submitted a list to the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner about 78 medical shops whose pharmacists degree are fake while 32 shops are run without pharmacists. The list contains name of reputed medical shops proprietors who hold key posts in Jamshedpur Chemists Association. The list contain name of shops, shops number, area and the name in which it is being run.
The pharmacist council members claim that running of such shops are not only causing loss to state revenues along with loss to Jharkhand Pharmacist Council as such shops have to renew the licence of pharmacists every year by paying an amount of Rs 125 while registration fees is Rs 200. The pharmacists member claimed that such shops are playing with the life of patients apart from causing loss to state revenue.
