Jamshedpur: Giving a much needed momentum to vaccination drive, a camp is being organised by East Singhbhum district administration jointly with the health department at the Keenan Stadium in Bistupur.
As per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate Suraj Kumar, the vaccination drive began at Keenan Stadium. Vaccination drive will be held daily at Keenan Stadium via walk-in mode only from 3 pm to 10 pm. Giving a message of women empowerment, DC asked the Executive Magistrate Savita Topno and Nikita Bala to inaugurate the camp.
Every day the vaccination drive will start at 3 pm and continue till 10 pm. Officials said the timing has been kept such for the convenience of people.
Dhalbhum SDO Sandeep Kumar Meena who is looking after the preparations said they have set a target of 3000 Covishield jabs on first day of the drive.
As many as 20 vaccination points have been set up at the venue for administering Covishield and Covaxin doses. The first day saw a huge rush of people – young and elderly.
According to health department officials, during the mass drive vaccines would be provided for the age group of 18 to 44 years and above.
” Vaccination would be provided through walk-in mode, ” said a health official adding that a person seeking a vaccine will have to produce his or her Aadhaar Card.
Necessary training has been given to the health department staff and computer operators for smooth vaccination during vaccination drive.
Meanwhile, the East Singhbhum health department is also continuing with Covid vaccinations and tests in various other centres – both in rural and urban areas.
” Vaccination would be provided through online slot booking and walk-in mode, ” said a health department official adding that all necessary logistics are being made at the venue.
A health official informed that the beneficiaries are being vaccinated by ensuring compliance of all safety standards and Covid -19 protocol at the vaccination site. Vaccination of beneficiaries is being done on a first come first serve basis at Walk in Center. This will not only keep us safe but our relatives and the whole society will be safe from this pandemic.
The District Administration has appealed to all the residents of the district that those who have not taken the second dose of Covaxin, will ensure to take their second dose as soon as possible.
By continuously running awareness campaigns through various mediums (social, print and electronic media) by the district administration, people are being made aware about vaccination as well as session sites are being organized for 18+ and 45+ age groups in regular urban areas .
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar had earlier directed officials to carry out large scale testing, treatment and surveillance in order to bring down active cases and new infections. Further instructions have been issued to individual district officials in a series of meetings to prepare for a possible third wave of infections.
