Jamshedpur: Mango Sports Academy launched, to offer free training

Jamshedpur: Mango Sports Academy was launched at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, aiming to provide free training in various sports to local children. Social worker Dr. Afroz Shakeel announced the initiative during a press meet at Mango Gandhi Maidan. Present at the conference were Md. Tahir Hussain, Md. Shahi, Sanjay Chatterjee, and Oen Siddiqui, with plans to expand the academy’s committee soon.

The academy will offer training in volleyball, basketball, handball, football, cricket, karate, and fitness. Expert coaches have been appointed, including NAS coach Dhanranjan Sharma for volleyball, former national player Wasi for handball, national player Md. Wasim for basketball, Md. Shafiq, former Tata Steel Football Team coach, for football, and Neeraj for karate.

Dr. Shakeel highlighted that the academy would focus on children battling drug addiction, aiming to reintegrate them into society through sports. Initially, three children will be trained weekly, with plans to include girls in the next phase. This initiative will ensure local children no longer need to travel far from Mango for quality sports training.
