Jamshedpur, May 6: B V Vinod Kumar (58) of Adityapur has set a record of traveling 700 km in just 24 hours on a scooty. His name has been entered in the prestigious India Book of Records.

According to Vinod, “Through my journey, I want to tell people that age can never become a hurdle if they have the passion to do something big in life. In the year 2012, I met an accident in which my spine was badly injured. I could barely walk then. It seemed as if my life was over. But I took heart and tried to do something big.”

Three years after the accident, Vinod covered 6617 km in 18 days on a scooty. He applied for an entry in the Limca Book of Records, but was rejected as there was no mention of scooty in the two-wheelers category. This year, on 26th March, Vinod traveled solo. He started at 4.35 am at Jamshedpur and reached Bodh Gaya at noon. After darshan, he left Bodh Gaya at 2 pm and reached Jamshedpur at 11.15 pm. In all, he covered 700 km on scooty. His feat was selected by the Editorial Board of The India Book of Records.

Vinod had taken VRS from Tata Steel after working as a senior manager. He dreams to become a travel blogger. His father B Satyanarayan was an Olympian associated with Tata Steel sports department. His father had participated in the 1960 and 1964 Olympics.

Taking inspiration from his father, Vind wants to explore the world. His motto is writ large on his vehicle: ‘Born To Ride, 55 Plus’.
