Jamshedpur man gets life term for raping minor, fined Rs 50,000

Jamshedpur, March 10: The POCSO court of Additional District Judge (V) Sanjay Kumar Upadhyaya sentenced one Binod Mukhi to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl. It also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on his. It had convicted him on 8^th March last.

The case dates back to 15^th September 2019 when Bistupur police had received a complaint against Mukhi, a father of three children, for allegedly raping the minor for two months. When the case was lodged, the minor had 22 weeks of pregnancy. After waiting for two more weeks, the abortion was done with court orders.

In this case, police had booked the accused under POCSO Act. The prosecution side was represented by Public Prosecutor Awadhesh Kumar Singh.
