Jamshedpur man batters wife to death in Olidih, absconding

Jamshedpur, May 3: One Ravindra Singh caned his wife to death in Shanti Vihar Colony under Olidih police station area on Tuesday, police said.

Police recovered the body of the deceased, Rekha Devi, from the house of her sister in the morning and sent it to MGM Medical College for postmortem examination. The accused fled his house after the incident, they said.

According to cops, the accused, a truck driver by profession, had seen his wife with another man in a compromising situation. Rekha had gone to stay at her sister’s house. Her sister was away with her family to attend a wedding. Ravindra made a surprise visit to his sister-in-law’s house to meet wife. On reaching there, he caught his wife with another man. Enraged by the situation, he locked the man in another room and assaulted his wife on her head with a cane. Rekha sustained critical injury in the incident and succumbed at the scene, cops said.

Rekha’s alleged paramour escaped from the room. Local residents rushed to the scene and informed the police.

Police officials said they were searching for Ravindra and the other man.
