Jamshedpur man attempts suicide in police custody, FIR registered

Jamshedpur, Feb 24 : An accused of assault and loot, Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha, held in custody at the Mango police station lockup, attempted  suicide by slitting his throat and vein of his hand with a sharp weapon on Thursday. Presently, Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha is undergoing treatment in the Prisoner’s Ward at MGMC Hospital. The Mango police have lodged an FIR in the case on Friday, February 24 in the matter on the statement of ASI Vidyanand Kumar posted in the Mango PS. According to information, Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha had assaulted Vijay Gorai, a resident of Daiguttu in Mango and looted a grinding machine and cash. Vijay Gorai lodged a written complaint in the Mango police station against Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha, Ayan Bachcha and 8-10 others. The police swung into action and in the course of investigation arrested Saqlain Shahid, Ayan and Afsar Bachcha in Mango police station custody. While in police custody, Afsar Hussain alias Afsar Bachcha cit his throat and vein of one of his hands in a suicidal bid.
