Jamshedpur man arrested for raping minor relative

Jamshedpur, May 16: Sidhgora police arrested a 26 year-old man for allegedly raping his the 14 year-old daughter of his sister here on Monday.

Cops said the accused had been forwarded to judicial custody soon after his sister registered a police complaint against him. According to the victim’s mother, the accused raped her daughter on several occasions. When the minor became pregnant, he also gave her medicines to abort her pregnancy. The minor’s condition deteriorated thereafter and she was taken to hospital where doctors declared her to be pregnant. Shocked by the medical report of her daughter, the complainant inquired about it with her daughter and was told that her own brother had raped her daughter. She informed police about the incident and registered FIR against her brother.

The accused had reportedly threatened the victim against revealing the incident to her mother or anyone else, cops said.

Police said the hospital authorities had preserved the fourth month embryo of the minor after her abortion. Police have collected the DNA sample of the accused which would be sent to the Forensice Science Laboratory, Ranchi, for matching with the embryo, officials said.
