Jamshedpur man arrested for raping and robbing woman on fake job promise

Jamshedpur, April 10: A team of West Bengal police arrested one Sharik Hameed from Dhatkidih for allegedly raping a Kolkata girl and misappropriating her ornaments.

Sources said the accused was arrested from a rented accommodation in Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area. A joint team of Bistupur and Kolkata police raided the house of the accused and arrested him. After interrogating the accused at Bistupur police station, the Kolkata cops took him along with them on transit remand.

According to cops, the accused had befriended the Kolkata girl on a social media platform and got his mobile number. After making false promise to help her get a job in Indigo Airlines, the accused called her to a guesthouse in Badi Bazar police station area and raped her, cops said.

The accused also took all gold and silver ornaments of the girl worth Rs 3 lakh and kept making false promises to her. The girl finally reached the local police station and lodged an FIR against the accused. Cops examined the CCTV footage of the guesthouse and identified the accused. A team was sent to Jamshedpur to arrest the accused.
