Jamshedpur, June 12: In a concerning development, the land mafia has encroached upon 15 acres of land belonging to Tarun Sudera and his family, who reside in Khasmahal near the Jamshedpur Zonal Office. The encroached land is located at various sites within the Bagbeda police station area. Tarun Sudera has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) to help reclaim his family’s land from the clutches of the land mafia.
A Janata Darbar was held in Govindpur on Monday, where Tarun Sudera presented his land documents to the DC and pleaded for assistance in freeing the land from the possession of the land mafia. After examining the submitted documents, the Deputy Commissioner assured Tarun Sudera that a report would be sought from the Zonal Office and necessary actions would be taken accordingly.
Tarun Sudera explained that his father, Harvansh Lal Sudera, had entrusted the care and management of some land to Mohan Singh, also known as Chandrabhushan Singh, a builder from Sonari. However, contrary to their agreement, Chandrabhushan Singh unlawfully sold a major portion of the land to locals through plotting agreements.
Upon discovering this deceit, Tarun Sudera filed a case at the police station, leading to the arrest and imprisonment of Mohan Singh alias Chandrabhushan Singh. The matter is currently pending in court. Furthermore, another part of the land situated in CP Tola has been encroached upon by former chief Pahar Singh, who claims it as his ancestral land. Pahar Singh cites a record from 1932, which mentions his grandfather Dubla Bhumij as a ryotdar (tenant), and in 1964, the land was registered under Jawaharlal Sudera’s name. Pahar Singh intends to file a title suit to assert his claim.
Additionally, Tarun Sudera disclosed that he owns 53 katha of land on Bagbeda Baroda Ghat Road. Shankar Pathak had rented this land to operate the Udyan ITI Institute under an agreement. However, after a few years of regular rent payments, Shankar Pathak ceased the payments upon the death of Harvansh Lal Sudera. To date, Shankar Pathak owes lakhs of rupees in rent. Tarun Sudera stated that he has been appealing to the Zonal Office, Bagbeda Police Station, and other administrative officials since 2008 to regain his land, but his pleas have gone unheard. He expressed hope that the Deputy Commissioner’s intervention would ensure justice by conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter. The gathering included notable figures such as Zila Parishad President Bari Murmu, Vice President Pankaj Sinha, MP Representative Abhay Choubey, Block Head, Zip Member Paritosh Singh, and the Heads of all Panchayats. Additionally, Panchayat Samiti Members, Ward Councilors, and several office bearers were present, including SDM Dhalbhum Piyush Sinha, Director DRDA Saurabh Sinha, DSO Rajeev Ranjan, DPRO (Public Relations) Rohit Kumar, ADSS Neha Sanjana Khalkho, and other departmental officials. Furthermore, BDO Praveen Kumar, CO Amit Srivastava, as well as personnel from the block, actively participated in the meeting.
DC highlights key concerns
Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav highlighted the significant challenges that were brought to light during the Janata Darbar. The major concerns expressed by the attendees revolved around the issues of garbage disposal and water management. Despite the proximity to the city, the absence of a municipal corporation has led to persistent problems regarding garbage collection and cleanliness in the area.
Additionally, the dilapidated condition of the roads, despite being located in a corporate sector, has raised concerns among the residents. To address these issues, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) has been actively engaging in discussions and has provided instructions to take appropriate measures in order to resolve the drinking water problem.
