Jamshedpur: In anticipation of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar and Project Director ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary conducted a comprehensive review of election preparations for constituencies 47 Jugsalai, 48 Jamshedpur East, and 49 Jamshedpur West. The review, facilitated through virtual means, emphasized the critical need for free, fair, and transparent elections.

One of the key focal points of the discussion was the effective handling of complaints received through the Cvigil app. Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar stressed the importance of promptly addressing these complaints and ensuring their full execution within the designated timeframe. He unequivocally stated that negligence in handling such complaints would not be tolerated, with strict action to be taken against responsible officers. Additionally, any decision to drop a complaint must be accompanied by a clear explanation to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the imperative of upholding the Model Code of Conduct.  Kumar directed officials to proactively investigate any potential violations, rather than waiting for complaints to be filed through Cvigil. Notably, he instructed the Field Support Teams (FSTs) to take proactive measures, including monitoring public representatives’ presence in various settings and ensuring compliance with advertisement regulations.

In line with these directives, officials were instructed to rigorously scrutinize hoardings, posters, and banners for proper authorization. Failure to obtain prior permission for such materials would be considered a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, warranting appropriate action.

Moreover, a robust vehicle checking campaign was proposed, targeting inter-state and inter-district checkpoints to deter illegal transportation of money, drugs, liquor, or other illicit items. The presence of key officials, including ADM Law and Order  Ananth Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner  Rohit Sinha, and SDM Dhalbhum Parul Singh, in the virtual meeting signified the collective commitment to ensuring electoral integrity.

As the nation gears up for the Lok Sabha elections, these measures underscore the authorities’ unwavering commitment to upholding democratic principles and safeguarding the sanctity of the electoral process.
