Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervour in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The city on Thursday was adorned with traditional fervour and joy as followers of Islam came together to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The auspicious occasion was embraced with prayers, joyous gatherings, and the exchange of gifts and greetings among the Muslim community.

Prayers, known as Namaz, were offered in various mosques across the city, with the historic Jama Masjid in Sakchi witnessing the highest turnout of devotees. Azadnagar, Dhatkidih, and Jugsalai, prominent Muslim-populated areas, reverberated with the sounds of music and laughter, especially among the youth, who celebrated the day with zeal and enthusiasm.

The streets were adorned with people of all ages, dressed in new clothes, embracing each other with warm greetings and exchanging gifts as a symbol of love and unity. Even in the more conservative pockets, there was a noticeable trend of the younger generation embracing modern fashion, adding a touch of contemporary flair to the traditional celebrations.

Special sweet dishes such as ‘sewayian’, a delicacy made from vermicelli, added flavor to the festivities, reflecting the richness of cultural traditions associated with Eid-ul-Fitr.

The district administration ensured a smooth and peaceful celebration by deploying magistrates at strategic locations to maintain law and order. The police, particularly vigilant in areas like Azadnagar Mango, Jugsalai, and Sakchi, ensured the safety and security of the public throughout the day.

Mohammed Nizam, a prominent social worker, highlighted the historical and religious significance of Eid-ul-Fitr, citing the victories of Prophet Muhammad and emphasizing the importance of charity and giving alms to the poor during Ramadan.

He noted that Eid transcends religious boundaries, with people from all backgrounds coming together to partake in the joyous festivities.

As the city bid farewell to Ramadan and welcomed Eid-ul-Fitr with open arms, it served as a reminder of the values of unity, compassion, and gratitude, resonating not only within the Muslim community but also with people of diverse faiths joining in the celebration wholeheartedly.
