Jamshedpur: Letter to PM, Guv for implementing Bagbera water project

Jamshedpur, Feb 26: Bagbera Mahanagar Vikas Samiti has sent a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Governor of Jharkhand to seek their intervention in resolving the water crisis being faced by the people of Bagbera and adjoining areas.

The outfit president Subodh Jha said several demands have been raised in the letter, providing piped water supply to the local population under the Bagbera Rural Water Supply Project being the most important one.

“We have demanded that the people of 19 panchayats covering 113 villages are provided water through pipeline. We have also demanded laying of 23 km long pipeline to supply drinking water to the 33 bastis (settlements) in the railway area of Bagbera. Our other demands include a judicial probe into the scam involving substandard construction in the Bagbera and Chhota Govindpur Rural Water Supply Project worth Rs 237 crore and recovery of the embezzled amount from the salary of culprits and refund of subscriptions paid by the people, inclusion of 19 panchayats of Bagbera, Ghaghidih, Kitadih and Parsudih in Jugsalai Nagar Parishad,” said Jha.

Jha said the outfit members will be organizing a padyatra (foot march) in support of the various demands from Jamshedpur to New Delhi on 21st March.
