Jamshedpur: Kolhan Divisional Commissioner provides guidelines in Voter List review meeting

Inspects polling stations in 49-Jamshedpur West Assembly constituency

Jamshedpur, August 7: Divisional Commissioner of Kolhan Division, Chaibasa, Hari Kumar Keshari, held a review meeting to assess the progress of the second special summary revision (SSR) 2024 of the voter list in Jamshedpur constituency. The meeting was attended by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and representatives of political parties.

Commissioner Keshari was informed of the new voters added during the assembly-wise revision program, as well as updates on senior voters, disabled voters, and the removal of deceased voters from the list. He reviewed the status of Forms 06, 07, and 08, focusing on both accepted and rejected forms, and inquired about the reasons for form rejections on an assembly-wise basis. He emphasized that verification must be conducted for any rejected form, and forms should only be canceled for valid reasons. He also directed that all pending forms be processed promptly.

The Commissioner instructed all EROs and AEROs to inspect polling stations regularly in their respective areas, ensuring that information on polling stations was widely circulated. He mandated regular meetings with booth level officers to review work progress and stressed that all tasks related to the voter revision program must be completed within the Election Commission of India’s specified timeframe.

District Election Officer Ananya Mittal informed that, under the Commission’s Inclusive Week initiative, a camp was organized to register voters from remote areas. Special campaigns were also conducted to register eligible citizens, including disabled individuals, senior voters aged 85 and above, transgenders and persons residing in night shelters or shelter homes. Instructions were issued to review polling stations with low voter turnout, correct the voter lists of those stations, and motivate voters to participate in elections.

The Divisional Commissioner, along with the District Election Officer, inspected various polling stations in the 49-Jamshedpur West Assembly Constituency. They reviewed the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) available at polling stations, inspecting locations such as Community Center Kagalnagar and Carmel Junior College in Sonari. During the tour of the area, they interacted with voters in Sonari and reviewed the progress of the voter list revision work.
