Jamshedpur: Key accused of instigating communal violence at Mango arrested

Jamshedpur: The police have arrested a 28-year-old man, Binoo Khan, who was wanted in connection with a case of instigating communal violence in July 2015 and attacking Mango police station in May last year.

A resident of Road No 4 in Azadnagar in Mango, Khan was arrested from a place in Pardih near Mango last night.

With the arrest of Khan, the police have so far arrested 31 persons involved in the post-lynching violence that hit Mango on May 20 last year.

OC, Mango police station, Arun Kumar Mahatha said that Khan was on the run after the police had on May 21 registered cases against 56 persons, including for rioting and attacking on police station on May 20.

” It is a major achievement as it will help us to punish the guilty. All these accused had on May 20 led to rioting and attacking the police vehicles as well as the Mango police station during a violent protest of lynching of four cattle traders by local villagers at Rajnagar in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on May 18. We have so far arrested 31 persons, including Khan,” said Mahatha.

Mahatha said Khan who is jobless was also wanted in the case of communal violence in July 2015. He said they had found his involvement during the post-lynching violent protest staged in Mango through CCTV footage.

The police officer said they are searching for the remaining 25 accused and they would arrest them whenever they get information about their whereabouts.
