Jamshedpur Keenan Stadium to be made mass Covid vaccine site

Jamshedpur, Sep 2: The East Singhbhum district administration has decided to administer 10,000 vaccines per day as part of its mega vaccination drive. The drive will start soon at the Keenan Stadium in Bistupur. The stadium that has hosted several international matches will be used to give momentum to the drive. 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar inspected Keenan Stadium, XLRI, and Kerala Samajam Model School to give impetus to the vaccination campaign conducted in the district.

A walk-in vaccination center is being planned at Keenan Stadium. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the facilities available and gave necessary directions.

Both the vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin – will be provided at the Vaccination camp which will continue for a week. According to health department officials, vaccines would be provided in the age group of 18 to 44 years and above.

During this, he also inspected the vaccine centers currently operating at XLRI and Kerala Samajam School and gave necessary directions regarding capacity enhancement of both the centres.

While increasing the manpower in XLRI, DC instructed to make necessary arrangements for vaccination of 8000 people from 2000 people. He also directed to double vaccination at Kerala Samajam.

Senior in-charge Vaccination Cell cum SDM Dhalbhum Sandeep Kumar Meena, Director DRDA Saurabh Kumar Sinha, Dr. Rajan Chaudhary and Dr. Renu from TMH and other officials were present on this occasion.

” Vaccination would be provided through online slot booking and walk-in mode, ” said a health department official adding that all necessary logistics are being made at the venue.

The SDO and district civil surgeon AK Lal also inspected the venue today to take stock of preparations.

A health official informed that the beneficiaries are being vaccinated by ensuring compliance of all safety standards and Covid -19 protocol at the vaccination site. Vaccination of beneficiaries is being done on a first come first serve basis at Walk in Center. This will not only keep us safe but our relatives and the whole society will be safe from this pandemic.
