Jamshedpur, July 6: Seraikela-Kharsawan police here on Wednesday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of contractor Kanhaiya Singh of Adityapur by arresting the killer and conspirator of the case. Seraikela-Kharsawan Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Prakash confirmed that the killers had been arrested in the case. He said an interrogation of the accused persons was on and that they would most likely be brought before the media on Thursday.The deceased was the brother-in-law of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh. Sources said a special investigation team (SIT) of district police had arrested the conspirator from Bihar. Police had identified the killer few days earlier and were trying to trace his location, sources said.

Kanhaiya Singh killed at the behest of his daughter Aparna and her lover Rajveer: Police

Jamshedpur, July 7: In a sensational revelation, Seraikela-Kharsawan police here on Thursday claimed that the murder of Adityapur-based builder Kanhaiya Singh was planned by his own daughter Aparna Singh and her boyfriend Rajveer Singh.

Kanhaiya Singh, brother-in-law of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Singh, was shot dead by three armed assailants in front of his flat at Road No 5, Hari Om Nagar on 30^th June last. The assailants were waiting for Kanhaiya Singh to reach home. No sooner did Kanhaiya arrive at the entrance door of his flat around 10 pm, the assailants shot him dead.

Confirming the finding, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Kolhan range, Ajay Linda, said, “Police have so far gathered sufficient proof of Aparna’s involvement in the killing of her father. She and her boyfriend laid out the murder plan. Kanhaiya Singh had got whiff of their love affair and was looking for a suitable bridegroom for his daughter. Aparna and Rajveer hatched the plan to kill him fearing that he would marry off Aparna.”

Sources said police have so far arrested 11 persons including Aparna, Rajveer, shooter Nikhil Gupta and his two aides. Nikhil was the main shooter accompanied by two other shooters who together carried out the murder plan, sources said.

The technical cell of Seraikela-Kharsawan district police played a pivotal role in cracking the murder mystery. Police nabbed the culprits on the basis of their WhatsApp call details and mobile phone surveillance data, sources said.

According to police, Aparna’s boyfriend is a resident of Kadma. Earlier, he used to live in Majhitola, Adityapur. It was there that Aparna and Rajveer became friends and later became lovers.

Sources said the accused persons were arrested from different states and are being interrogated in connection with the murder case. Adityapur police station SHO Rajan Singh said SP Anand Prakash would hold a press conference on Friday to share the police findings in the case.

Sources said a district police team led by Seraikela SDPO Harvinder Singh raided the paternal house of Kanhaiya Singh in Sindhia police station area of Samastipur district in Bihar and arrested Aparna Singh. Cops brought Aparna and other members of her family along with them to Seraikela for interrogation. This was confirmed by Bhuvan Kumar, SHO of Sindhia police station.
