Jamshedpur: The air is thick with festive fervour as Kadma gears up for its most anticipated annual event—the Ganesh Puja, organized by Shree Bala Ganapati Vilas, set to commence on September 19th, Tuesday. As the clock ticks down to the auspicious day, the organizers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and joyous celebration, blending tradition with contemporary safety measures.

The Kadma Ganesh Puja, a tradition dating back to 1919, remains a timeless magnet, attracting devotees and revelers alike for a vibrant 16-day celebration. This year, the organizing committee, led by chairman B Anand Rao, is deeply committed to hosting a Ganesh Puja that not only upholds its century-old legacy but also prioritizes the safety and well-being of all participants.

The grand inauguration of the Ganesh Puja Mahotsav pandal will be graced by former Chief Minister Raghubar Das this evening, setting the stage for the festivities to follow. Tomorrow, the sacred rituals of ‘Kalash Sthapna’ and ‘Pran Pratistha’ will take center stage, with Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda as the chief guest and local MLA Saryu Roy as the special guest.

Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato will inaugurate the fair on the evening of September 19th, ushering in a season of joy and camaraderie. A special highlight of the celebrations is the ‘Mahabhandara’ (community meal) scheduled for devotees on October 2nd, fostering a sense of unity and communal harmony.

The culmination of this grand spectacle will be the immersion procession on October 4th, a spectacle that draws thousands to witness the farewell of Lord Ganesha.

With an expected budget of around Rs 20 lakh this year, the organizers are going the extra mile to ensure that the event is not only entertaining but also safe for all attendees. A member of the organizing committee stated, “This is the most popular and elaborate Ganesh Puja in Jamshedpur. We always try to make it both entertaining and safe. The budget is being stretched because of inflation.”

Safety remains paramount during the festivities. In addition to the police presence provided by the district administration, private security personnel from a professional agency will be deployed to maintain order and keep trouble-makers at bay. Round-the-clock fire engine availability and event insurance have also been put in place to address any unforeseen emergencies.

As the grand Kadma Ganesh Puja unfurls, it is not merely a celebration of tradition but also a testament to the resilience and commitment of the community to uphold its rich cultural heritage while embracing modern safety practices—a true fusion of past and present.
