Jamshedpur: A family from the Garabasa area of Jugsalai has reportedly fled their home following allegations of dowry harassment involving a woman from Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s family arrived in Jamshedpur on Wednesday to find the matrimonial residence locked and the premises vacated.
The Marriage and Allegations
The couple married on May 17, 2025, at a local hotel. According to the victim’s family, harassment began several months into the marriage. The woman reported facing physical and mental abuse from her husband and in-laws regarding dowry demands for approximately six months.
The deteriorating situation eventually forced her to return to her parental home in Uttar Pradesh.
Failed Resolution and Disappearance
The two families initially attempted an amicable resolution. The husband agreed to travel to Uttar Pradesh to bring his wife back, but he failed to arrive within the agreed timeframe.
When the woman’s relatives traveled to Jugsalai this week to address the matter, neighbors informed them that the entire family had abandoned the house. The victim’s family is now pursuing legal action against the absconding husband and his relatives.
