Founder’s Day Preparations: Jubilee Park to Close for 15 Days

No-Entry for Vehicles

Jamshedpur: Preparations are in full swing for the birth anniversary of Tata Steel founder JN Tata on March 3. In view of the extensive lighting and decoration work planned at Jubilee Park, the district administration has decided to close the park to the public and vehicles for the next 15 days.

According to the order issued by Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Arnab Mishra, the main gates of Jubilee Park will remain completely closed from February 21 to March 7.

Safety Measures Prioritized

The district administration and Jusco (Tata Steel UISL) management stated that the closure is necessary due to the use of heavy machinery and the installation of high-voltage electrical wiring for the festive illumination. To ensure the safety of tourists and prevent any hindrance to the work, entry for all two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers on the Park Road will be strictly prohibited. No unauthorized persons will be allowed inside the park premises during this period.

Impact on Commuters and School Children

The closure is expected to significantly impact residents traveling from Mango and Sakchi toward Sonari and Kadma. School-going children and parents will be the most affected, as they will now have to navigate longer alternative routes during the morning rush hours. While the park usually sees restrictions during the peak picnic season (Dec 25 – Jan 10), this is one of the longest continuous closures ordered for Founder’s Day preparations.

Uncertainty for Morning Walkers

While the official order explicitly bans tourists and vehicles, there is currently no clear word from Jusco management regarding the entry of morning walkers. For now, city residents who use the Park Road for daily transit are advised to follow diverted routes starting tomorrow, February 21.
