Jamshedpur: Jilted girlfriend commits suicide, parents protest at boyfriend house

Jamshedpur, April 19: A girlfriend living near Bagunhatu Road No. 5 Sukha Talab under Sidhgora police station jumped into the Swarnarekha river near her house on Tuesday after being stressed over her lover’s refusal to marry her and beatings by family members.

On Wednesday morning, with the help of divers, the police took out the dead body of girlfriend Kiran from the river.

On the other hand, when Kiran’s dead body was found, the residents of the colony created a ruckus at the house of the accused and tried to break the door of the house too. When the door did not open, they vandalized the tempo standing outside, after which the policemen present there somehow pacified the matter. However, the police have taken the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.

Kiran was beaten up at her lover’s house Kiran’s mother Urmila Devi told that her daughter was in love with a young man named Vikas Dutta, a ballast sand supplier living in the same area for the last three years. When I came to know about his love affair six months ago, first she scolded while explaining to the daughter. But last day it came to know that daughter Kiran is two months pregnant. After this we agreed to get married. She started pressuring the lover to marry, but the lover Vikas refused to marry.

On the other hand, on the day of the incident on Tuesday, the family members of the accused also thrashed him and drove him away from the house. On knowing this, Kiran was advised to go to the police station, but instead of going to the police station, she jumped into the nearby river. People around tried to save her, but she could not be found.

The women tried to break the door of the house, after the police reached the spot after investigation, took the help of divers to retrieve the body, whose body was taken out of the river on Wednesday. After this, the residents including Kiran’s family became furious and created a ruckus outside the house of the accused Vikas. The women tried to enter the house by breaking the door of his house, but were stopped by the police, after which the angry people vandalized the tempo standing there and burnt it up. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, after a lot of effort, the police pacified the matter by convincing the people. People allowed the dead body to be taken on the condition that until the arrest of the accused lover and his family members, the dead body would not be cremated. On the other hand, investigating the case on the basis of the complaint of the family members and the post mortem report, the police assured of legal action, after which the people calmed down.
