Jamshedpur: JH Tarapore girls shine at JOGGA Chess Championship

JUSCO School South Park hosts 3-day event

Jamshedpur, Jan 13: Tarapore School Agrico and JH Tarapore School were declared the winner (team event) of JOGGA Inter School Chess Championship in the senior boys and senior girls category respectively.

Organized by JUSCO School South Park the three day event concluded today with prize distribution ceremony at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

JH Tarapore students stole the limelight as they won junior and senior girls team category events.

Other winners in senior boys category were first runners up KSMS and second runners up DBMS Kadma.

Sacred Heart Convent School won the position followed by Beldih Church School in senior girls category.

In the junior boys team category Baldwin Farm Area School was the winner followed by DBMS Kadma and KPS Kadma.

In junior girls team event JH Tarapore was first, Sacred Heart Convent School was second while Central Public School bagged third place.

Aniket Gupta of NML-KPS Agrico was declared the winner followed by Om Narayan Bhuyan of SDSM School and Sahil Kr Saha of KSMS in senior boys individual category.

In Junior girls individual Navieka Jaiswal of MLZS was first, Pragya Bhardwaj of JH Tarapore was second while Ajuni Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School bagged third place.

Kaushika Kumari of Church School was first in senior girls individual event followed by Sunidhi Singh of JH Tarapore and Sarakshi Pani of JH Tarapore.

A F Madon , Administrator JEM Foundation graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and N K Tiwary , General Secretary, East Singhbhum District Chess Association was the Guest of honour.

Firoz Khan, Senior Sports Administrator, Tata Steel Sports Department was also present as the special guest in the event.

School Principal Mili Sinha welcomed the guests and congratulated the participants for their efforts.

This was followed by a scintillating dance performance by the students of JSSP.

AF Madon gave away prizes to the winners. He lauded the efforts of the Chess Association and JUSCO School South Park for organizing the event. He said that these kinds of events give exposure to the budding sports talent of the city.

The chess arbitrators team led by Jayant Kumar Bhuyan and Chandan Kumar Prasad also received appreciation certificates for successfully conducting the event.
