Jamshedpur: Jeevan to organise refresher training programme to upskill volunteers

Jamshedpur: In a bid to bolster the proficiency of its volunteers, the Jamshedpur-based suicide prevention centre, Jeevan, is set to host a comprehensive two-day refresher training programme commencing on March 16 and 17th, 2024, at SNTI. P K Ghose, Managing Director, JAMIPOL LTD, will inaugurate the training programme.

Spearheaded by Shankar Nararayanan, former national coordinator of Befrienders India, alongside Manjit, an esteemed trainer from Kolkata, also the current Treasurer of Befrienders India, the training aims to equip participants with enhanced skills and strategies crucial in dealing with individuals grappling with depression, stress, and suicidal tendencies.

Approximately 35 dedicated volunteers from Jeevan are slated to partake in the training, where they will receive specialized instruction on empathetic communication techniques, crisis intervention methods, and practical approaches to provide emotional support to those in mental distress. The program underscores Jeevan’s unwavering commitment to fostering a supportive environment and actively contributing to suicide prevention efforts within the community.

Jeevan, recognized as a beacon of hope, has consistently endeavored to extend compassionate assistance to individuals facing mental health challenges. Emphasizing the importance of collective support, the organization urges every citizen of Jharkhand to play a proactive role in raising awareness and promoting mental well-being.
