Jamshedpur: Jam@Streets concludes with excitement but lesser participation

Jamshedpur, Feb 19: With winter crossing over to the summer terrain albeit unpredictably, the annual fun festival with age-no bar, Jam@Streets saw lesser participation on Sunday at the euphoric program’s final stint of the season.

Organised at Sand Line Road in Sakchi from Sakchi main round about to old book stores line, Jam@streets kicked off at 5:30 am and continued till 9 am. 

The participants also managed to shake a leg at one of the DJ corners with children and the crowd and played badminton and boxing with visitors at the sports corner set up by Tata Steel’s sports department. 

The visitors felt that the fervour of Jam@streets was high this year, the thrust was more on making citizens aware about health issues. 

“Jam@streets is one of the best places for social awareness because there are so many people together at one place. Since we are working hard to spread awareness for rural girls, we thought this was the best place to share our vision with people. We received a very positive response,” said a social activist.

As usual, the street showcased more of sports and DJ dancing, tattoo making and yoga this time. The total number of crowd was estimated at 8000.

Some visitors said that there should be something new to attract visitors at Jam@streets. 

“When we reached at 6 am, the stretch was deserted. The crowd only started coming after 7 am but it was less as compared to the earlier ones. The number of kiosks were also less. I think, organisors should innovate more on concepts,” said Radha Kumari, a student of Graduate School College for Women who had come with her friends. 

The foodstalls attracted most of the crowd because visitors always prefer taking their breakfast at food stalls put up by various hotels and managed by the Jamshedpur Hoteliers Association (JHA).

The stalls offered chhole bhature, sandwiches, dosa idli, pizza and pastries.
