Jamshedpur, July 11: He had no books. He borrowed books from a relative in Ghatshila and prepared for his Class X exams. He scored 92.40 percent marks and did his alma mater Matigoda Upgraded High School and all of Jadugoda proud by obtaining the highest marks in the entire area. He nurtures a dream � a legitimate dream, going by his dedication to studies. He wants to be a doctor. He is Bittu Das son of a small time cycle mechanic Rajni Kant Das who ekes out a daily income averaging between Rs 50 and Rs 100 a day.
In pursuit of that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Bittu wants to enroll for the science section for his Class XII education. Naturally for Bittu wants to be a doctor.
Bittu Das has scored 462 marks that have given him the percentage of 92.40. Bittu�s dream has definitely run into the wall of poverty. He is pensive but still has a glimmer of hope in him. His mother, Putu Das said that her son has been studious since he was a child. He has been scoring good marks all along his school career. With Bittu Das� marks, parents more fortunate would have stoked the flame of medical ambition of their child. The parents and relatives of this meritorious student, who is presently the shadow under the lamp, are hoping to find good Samaritans among philanthropists and parliamentarians, legislators and concerned politicians and social activists. Cycle mechanic Rajni Kant Das and Putu Das along with their well meaning relatives and well wishers, equally helpless all, are looking up to Providence to deliver them from the catch 22 situation. However, the present situation for the Das family is that of keeping fingers crossed.
