Jamshedpur: Investigation into Neelachal Express incident concludes

Jamshedpur, June 6: The investigation into the incident involving the overhead electric (OHE) wire falling on coach number S-5 of the Anand Vihar-Puri Neelachal Express concluded. Brijesh Mishra, Chief Safety Officer of South East Zone, summoned 65 train and station duty employees from various departments to Ranchi Divisional Headquarters for questioning. Their statements were recorded on Monday and Tuesday regarding the circumstances leading to the incident and its aftermath. The investigation report will be forwarded to the Railway GM of South East Zone and Railway Board for further action. The Chief Safety Officer conducted a three-hour inspection of the Neelachal Express engine at Tatanagar, which is undergoing repairs before being dispatched to Kanpur. The incident occurred on June 1 when a high-tension wire broke between Suisa and Tiruldih stations of Ranchi Railway Division, resulting in injuries to Ram Shankar Chaudhary and Rahul Kumar, residents of Raebareli. Rahul Kumar succumbed to his injuries on June 3 during treatment at Ranchi RIMS. The statements of Senior Loco Pilot RS Lakra, Assistant Loco Pilot S Mukhopadhyay, and Guard R Shukla of Tatanagar have also been recorded by the Chief Safety Officer.
