Jamshedpur: India clinches 12 medals including 3 gold on day 2 Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 

TSAF’s Kundan wins gold in Speed event

Jamshedpur, Dec 10: The second day of the Asian Kids Championship on Saturday, December 10 was remarkably captivating from beginning to end and one can see how the championship is evolving each day to become one of the most coveted competitions in the world.  Twelve of Indian athletes including 5 from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation won medals in Speed, Lead and Bouldering, making it a historic day for India.  India won 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals on day 2 of the championship being held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

Kundan Kumar Singh from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) won gold medal in Speed event while Abhipsha Roy and Shoolin Rakesh Neve were other gold medal winners from India in Speed category.  

South Korean athletes dominated the Lead event as it won all the four gold medals on offer. Participants from South Korea and Philippines won gold in Bouldering event.

Another TSAF athlete Suku Singh won silver in Lead event while Sudarshan Murmu bagged silver medal in Bouldering event.

Other silver medal winners from India were Rajwardhan Shedge and Sharayu Yogesh Hande in Speed event. Dhanush. J won in the Lead event.

Bhoj Birua from TSAF won bronze medal in Speed event and Suku Singh bagged bronze in Bouldering event.

With historical feats and some defeats, the Championship is growing by the hour.

The level of competition is getting neck to neck and the emulous young athletes are raising the bar with each passing moment.

Earlier, the day witnessed an electrifying start with Speed Climbing, where the athletes displayed outstanding swiftness, leaving the audience gasping for breath. Next came Bouldering with fresh new routes and even bigger challenges. In Lead climbing athletes displayed astonishing precision and focus. Large crowds cheered for the athletes making the atmosphere vibrate with energy. Students from two schools from Jamshedpur – Kerela Public School and Vivek Vidalaya participated in the event, tried their hand at sport climbing for the first time, and interacted with the national and international athletes.  

It is a loud and proud statement by the Indian Sport climbing team that we are here to stay.

International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Asia in association with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) is organizing the three-day extravaganza wherein 84 young athletes from 10 Asian countries are participating.
